A Powerful New Muse Storytelling Course
the four building blocks for crafting emotionally moving Films

THE 4 BUILDING BLOCKS WERE DEVELOPED BY THE 5-TIME EMMY AWARD-WINNING STILLMOTION

Here's What You'll Learn

THE SINGLE BIGGEST THING YOU NEED TO FIND TO ENSURE YOUR VIDEO IS FELT

Regardless of the type of film you're making, who you put in your video, and how you do so, can make all the difference. We'll show you what to ask and how to discern which people are best for your story.

You'll learn the single biggest thing you need to find and develop within the people in your video, your characters, to ensure your story is emotionally moving.

HOW TO CREATE A COMPELLING REASON FOR YOUR VIEWER TO KEEP WATCHING YOUR VIDEO (AND YES, ALL GREAT FILMS DO THIS)

The fact is, most viewers today watch only a few seconds of a video. Science says we have up to 15 seconds to truly hook the viewer if we hope they'll watch until the end.

We'll show you how to develop a hook that keeps your viewer engaged throughout your video. Using this approach has helped us create millions of organic views of our videos.

HOW TO ARRANGE ALL THE MOMENTS IN YOUR VIDEO IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY TO MAXIMIZE THEIR IMPACT

There may be nothing worse than pouring your heart into a video only to have your audience shut it off before it's done.

We call each moment in your video a plot point, and we'll show you a step-by-step approach for determining which plot points to use, and how to arrange them in the best possible way.

HOW TO START CREATING VIDEOS THAT GO BEYOND THE OBVIOUS OR THE EXPECTED

Knowing how to approach a video with an open mind and curious heart may be one of the most overlooked, yet critical, skills in storytelling.

We call this the act of Listening–allowing the story to be heard. And it's broken down in this 60-page ebook which you can download inside the course.

AN INTRODUCTION TO STORY

When you first jump into the course, you'll see the rubber hits the road straight away. We're not wasting any time.
You'll discover the 2 Key Elements that are Critical in creating irresistible stories - and within the first 15 minutes of content, you'll know exactly what to look for to make your film shine.
BUILDING BLOCK #1 - DESIRE

At this point, we’ve come to the basic understanding that story is, quite literally, the retelling of events, real or imagined. And those events are often from one person’s perspective.

One of the first steps of telling any story then is to find a person to base your story on. This section will give you a step by step guide to finding the perfect character for your story (and sometimes it's not the most obvious choice).
BUILDING BLOCK #2 - CONFLICT

A story with conflict makes the audience lean in and pay attention. Without Conflict, your story will likely fall flat. It’ll bore people. Be forgotten. It won’t create the action you want. Conflict is the fuel that propels your story.

Questions are born out of conflict. Suddenly the audience has something that they REALLY want to see resolved. In this section you'll learn how to 'unearth' the conflict you need to grab your audience's attention and make your film great.
BUILDING BLOCK #3 - PLOT POINTS

Plot Points are the unit with which we build our story's structure. As past of the course, you'll develop an understanding of Plot Points, so that you'll be able to understand the Plot Points of your story's  main character.

Plot points are the backbone - the structure on which we build our story. This means that it’s critical to understand them to ensure your story really hits home.
BUILDING BLOCK #4 - LISTENING
By far, listening is the single most overlooked skill in filmmaking.

Without listening, you'll struggle to find a strong enough character to make your audience to fall in love. You'll lack clarity on what your story is really about. And you won't understand fundamental components of your story, like Conflict and Plot Points, without having taken the step to listen first.

In this section, we'll give you everything you need to become an expert listener.

How I won $5,000 in a Filmmaking Competition after
learning the Muse Storytelling Process.

“I started out shooting Weddings. And one of the first things that I noticed was the Wedding videographers were all sort of doing the same thing. As a wedding filmmaker, I never want to feel like I'm giving people a template. I know the couple is so much more than that day... it's not just a wedding story.”

In her wedding films, before Nikki agrees to film a couple she makes sure they understand she isn’t looking to just work with them, but to get to know them. And it’s working.

Mae B. Films has been featured in 100 Layer Cake, Style Me Pretty, Smashing the Glass, The Every Girl, and other bridal publications.

But she wanted something more.

“I heard about a Filmmaking Competition – the challenge was to shoot a 60 second film about one of 30 entrepreneurs chosen by a company called Wix. The competition was called #SelfMade. At first I thought, there’s no way I can do this, these are real New York filmmakers! But after signing up for the Muse Storytelling Course – I knew that I could find all the elements that would make a brilliant story.
“Now everything I shoot has a place and a purpose. I design the interview questions with intention and focus on how to get a good interview. I can hear a story come out now,” she said.
" I was still pretty nervous – so I didn’t tell anyone I’d entered. I was like, I'm not telling my family, I'm not telling my friends, I'm just going to do this and if nothing comes of it, I'll know that I lost but I tried..”

Turns out, she didn’t have to worry...
Nikki’s film, #SelfMade The Mobile Vintage Shop, took second prize and won her $5,000.

When the winners were announced Nikki was floored, but she knew why her story had worked.

“I knew where to put place, where to put everything, and I knew how to build it in 60 seconds. I won because of Muse,” she said.
